23 Apr 2012: Tights Focus!

Hi guys, let's make it all about your legs today! Tights have been a staple in every girl’s wardrobe for oh-too-many seasons, and it’s for good reason: tights can bring your spring and summer clothes well into fall, plus provide a little bit of extra warmth on chilly days! Right now, the trendiest tights are far from basic. Patterned tights, head-turning coloured tights, fishing net, etc. you name it, and no pattern is off-limits. Among them all, I love patterned tights.

Patterned tights are trendy as you can see from many celebrities like Miley Cyrus and Victoria Beckham have been spotted wearing tights with patterns. Blake Lively pulled off the red patterned tights very well in Gossip Girls!

Jessie J ~ this is probably her favourite she has worn it too many times!

There are so many patterns to choose from out there. The wear-ability of some patterns may not be as durable (due to the delicate patterns) or versatile as basic, solid tights hence they might not a very good investment. Having said that they are not so expensive for everyone to try! Find "the one" and they will always add attractiveness, elegance, classy, sweet, funky-feel or whatever ‘feel’ you would like to create for your whole outlook and in turn, expressing your style & personality!

Here are some classic & elegant choices that I would personally go for (sourced: MyTights.Com – a specialist hosiery retailer, carrying everything from the affordable and cheerful £4 product to the ultra-glamorous luxury £40 pair!)

Ok, here are some DOs and DON’Ts tips about wearing patterned tights:

DO: Make it all about your legs. Pick a hemline that shows off your legs and add a pair of high heels that makes them look even longer. Stick with a neutral palette, or at least go for one pop of colour or two max (never 4 or 5). Neutral palette will always work well with anything you wear. One very important note is, please do check the patterns when you’re wearing it. Check out Miley Cyrus (above) ~ her tights patterns wasn’t at the right place and it looks quite awkward.

DON'T: Please don’t make your outfit look too busy. If you opt for patterned tights, then tone down the outfit. If it is cold, and you prefer to stay warm in boots, then don’t wear a midi dress (remember to keep your hem line high). Otherwise your leg will look shortened and you will look a lot shorter than you actually are.

Have any of you been dressing up with patterned (or textured) tights lately? What are your rules for wearing them? Let’s discuss! Leave a comment with your thoughts!!
